Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-06
Mindpoll works offline and without an account. This policy explains what data the app and this website process, why, who else receives it, and what you can do about it.
1. Who is responsible
The controller is Szabó Gergő Péter E.V., Barackos utca 1, 2365 Inárcs, Hungary, szabogergo.ev@gmail.com (sole proprietor, Hungary). Write to szabogergo.ev@gmail.com for anything about your data.
2. The short version
- Your progress and settings are stored on your phone. We do not receive them.
- There are no accounts. The app does not ask for your name or email.
- Ads are shown by Google AdMob. You decide about ad personalisation and tracking in the consent screens (first shown from the second time you open the app) and can change it later in Settings.
- Anonymous usage statistics are off until you allow them.
3. What we process, why, and on what legal basis
"Consent" is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, "contract" is Art. 6(1)(b) (providing the app you asked for), "legitimate interest" is Art. 6(1)(f).
- Data on your phone (progress, settings, a cache of what you bought): stored only on your device. We have no access to it. Deleting the app deletes it.
- Waitlist (website): your email address, the page language, and the time of sign-up, to send one message when the app is released. Basis: consent. Deleted after the launch email, at the latest after 24 months, or earlier on request.
- Install registration (optional, only when the backend is switched on): a random install id (not your advertising id), platform, language, app version and, if you allow notifications, your Expo push token. Purpose: delivering notifications and keeping the backend working. Basis: consent for the push token, legitimate interest otherwise. You can switch notifications off in the app, which deletes the token.
- Rooms (optional): the nickname you type, your choices and votes, and the random install id, only while a room exists. Rooms are deleted automatically after a few hours. Nicknames are visible to the other people in the room. Basis: contract.
- Global results: for each question you answer, a vote linked to the random install id (to count one vote per install), a counter for the country taken from your phone's region setting, and, only if you choose to give it, an age band that is counted anonymously and never stored with the install id. Basis: contract and your consent for the age band.
- Ads (Google AdMob): AdMob processes your IP address, device and advertising identifiers (on iOS only if you allow tracking), and app and usage data to choose and measure ads and prevent fraud. We set the maximum ad content rating. Basis: consent, which you give or refuse in the Google consent form and, on iPhone, the tracking prompt.
- Purchases: payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user id, the products you bought and the store receipt to unlock what you bought and to restore it. Basis: contract, and legal obligation for accounting records.
- Anonymous usage statistics (PostHog, EU region): screens opened, app open and close, device model and OS version, and a random id. No names and no text you write. Off by default. Basis: consent, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time.
- App updates: when the app checks for an update, our update server (hosted in the EU, files stored at Cloudflare) receives your IP address, app version and platform. Basis: legitimate interest (delivering fixes).
- This website: our host Vercel keeps short-lived server logs (IP address, time, page) for security and operation. The site sets no tracking cookies and has no analytics. If you click a language button we save your choice in one small cookie (mindpoll-lang, one year). Basis: legitimate interest and your request.
4. Who receives data
Our processors and other recipients are: Google (AdMob and the consent form), RevenueCat, PostHog (EU Cloud), Convex (backend), Vercel (website hosting), Railway and Cloudflare (update server and files), and Apple and Google as the app stores. Some of them are in the United States; transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
5. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting what was done before). Write to szabogergo.ev@gmail.com. You can also complain to the Hungarian authority (NAIH, naih.hu) or to the authority in your country.
6. Children
Mindpoll is not directed at children under 13. If you think a child gave us data, write to us and we will delete it.
7. Changes
If the app or the backend starts collecting something new, we update this page and the date above.
